General

  1. Can I read my eBook right away?
  2. Yes! AAO eBooks are available instantly on purchase; with no wait time for shipping or other delays.
  3. What is an eBook?
  4. An eBook (short for electronic book) is an e-text that forms the digital media equivalent of a conventional printed book, often restricted with a digital rights management system. Our eBooks are electronic versions of the printed book which can be read on a personal computer or other devices.
  5. How do I use the search option?
  6. Type a search term or phrase in the search text box and click on ‘Go’ to search the eBook content. Your search results will appear in a column on the right-hand side of the page. Specific search terms usually result in more targeted results.
    Note: The search option is disabled when viewing the book in the full-screen mode.
  7. How do I read my eBooks online?
  8. Simply go to the AAO publishing website using your web browser, login, click on Bookshelf, select the book you wish to read and click "Online Reading Options".
  9. How do I add my personal notes throughout the eBook?
  10. Highlight on the content to which you want to add notes and click 'add note' button. You can check for these notes in the 'My notes' segment in your bookmarks.
  11. How do I bookmark a page?
  12. The top panel in the reader has the Bookmark option. Clicking on it will bookmark the page currently being viewed. You can check for the pages that have been bookmarked in the 'Bookmarks' segment in your bookmarks.

  14. For PCs: 
    Windows Vista, 7 or 8; with Internet Explorer 9 or 10; Firefox; Google Chrome or Safari 5+ 
    For Macs: 
    Mac OS X with Safari 5+ 
    For Android tablets: 
    Android 4+  and 7 or 10 inch Screen Size
    For Apple iPad: 
    iOS 7+ 

    Note: This product is not recommended for use with smartphones or with tablet operating systems that are not installed by the manufacturer.
  15. What can I do with my eBook?
  16. In addition to zoom, reading, and downloading, eBooks are fully searchable and users can annotate, bookmark, and highlight them. Users can search for terms in a single book, across their purchased titles, or across the full site.
  17. Syncing of new purchases

  18. First and foremost make sure to activate your eBooks.

    Log in to www.aao.org/myonlineproducts with your Academy username and password.
    Click on the eBook title in the menu.

    To avoid logging out and re-logging in every time you make a new purchase, please go to the Shopping Bag Tab on your iPad app and Tap on the Sync button and ensure that there is no loss of internet connectivity when the sync takes place.

    Log in to http://elibrary.aao.org/login with your Academy username and password. Click on My Online Products and then the eBook title in the menu to activate your eBooks.

    This will ensure that your account gets uniformly synced and your purchases will be visible on the Bookshelf tab ready to download.

    If you are still facing issues, please log out and log back in.
  19. Can I print the eBooks?
  20. The eBook is protected and it cannot be printed.
    All content can be downloaded for personal use using the iPublishCentral Reader iPad app / iPublishCentral Reader Android app. 

  21. To access your subscribed eBooks from your Apple iPad®.
    1. Download and install the AAO eBooks iPad app from the Apple App Store.

    3. Open the eBook site using the default browser on your iOS device.

    4. Go to the Bookshelf Page and choose the book you wish to download.

    5. Click on the button

    6. You will be redirected to the download page .

    7. Click on the button

    8. Once the file is downloaded, open it with the AAO eBooks app to read.

  22. To access your subscribed eBooks from your Android™ tablet.
    1. Download and install the AAO eBooks android app from the Google Play Store.

  23. Admin User
  24. There are two types of users under one institution.
    1.      Admin user
    2.      Regular user

    Once the users are under one institution, they will have the option to login again and access the eBooks. The admin user will have more rights to manage the institution.

    Admin user has the additional rights to manage the following:

    • Edit Institution: Admin user can edit the details of the institution and save them.

    • Manage Common Users and Add Common Users

    • Manage Institutional User: Admin user can edit and manage the existing users under the institution.

    • Add Institutional User: Admin user can add new users to the institution and manage the user details.

    • Manage IP Range: Admin user can manage the institution's IP range details if the institution is under IP range.

    • Add IP range: Admin user can add the IP range for the institution and manage it.

    • Manage Referer: Admin User can manage the referrer URL for the institution.

    Reports: Admin user can view the reports of the successful section requests by month and title of the eBooks
